The story was originally written as the first chapter of Stoker's novel “Dracula” but was deleted prior to publication. However, 2 years after Stoker’s death, his wife managed to publish Dracula’s Guest along with a collection of his other short stories in 1914.Sneak Peak“She did: but she didn’t intend you to know it. I suppose it was my clumsy haste that made you suspect. She told me that she did not like the idea of your being in that house all by yourself, and that she thought you took too much strong tea. In fact, she wants me to advise you if possible to give up the tea and the very late hours. I was a keen student in my time, so I suppose I may take the liberty of a college man, and without offence, advise you not quite as a stranger.”Summary"Dracula's Guest" follows an Englishman (whose name is never stated but is assumed to be Jonathan Harker) on a trip to Munich before departing for Transylvania. It's Walpurgis Night, and despite the hotelier's warnings not to return late, the young man abandons his carriage and travels into an abandoned "unholy village." As lightning strikes an iron spike, the Englishman is pushed from the entryway of a tomb, demolishing the tomb and the now screaming woman inside. As he regains consciousness, he is horrified by a sense of loathing that he associates with a warm feeling in his chest and a licking at his throat. The Englishman manages to find the guts to peer through his lashes and discovers a massive wolf with flaming eyes attending him.A Stunning ReprintAt Timeless Publications, we take every step possible to ensure the original integrity of this book is upheld to its highest standard.
